Meet Bethany Myers

I'm the founder of Kitty Cat Training Lady, and I live in Huntington Beach with three highly intelligent, energetic cats, including two Bengal-Savannah hybrids. I have seven years of hands-on experience in feline enrichment, training and behavior, and I've been published in a Seal Beach newspaper.

I help owners of Bengals, Savannahs and other curious cats build stronger relationships through positive reinforcement, basic commands, tricks, harness training and adventure preparation.

My mission is to help cats thrive, and to give their humans the confidence to understand and train them.

Gia came home after 14 months

Gia riding on Bethany's shoulder

On April 8, 2025, my Bengal-Savannah cat Gia disappeared from Fountain Valley, California. She was deeply bonded to her littermate, Vivi, and she was a beloved member of our family. When she vanished, it felt like half of me went with her.

I spent months searching Fountain Valley and Santa Ana. I hung signs, organized search parties, raised money, hired a bloodhound pet detective and built a community group to find her. As time passed, the outlook got bleak. My friends, neighbors and I even held a funeral for her in my backyard.

More than a year later, I got an unbelievable phone call. A volunteer trapper had found Gia alive on the streets of Santa Ana. She had survived outside for over a year.

Gia's story has reached 1 million views on Instagram, and the reunion was featured by KTLA News.

Three volunteers made it happen

BernadetteFed Gia for nearly two months.
Tori RenoHumanely trapped her.
DebbieTook her to the vet, where the microchip was scanned.

These women gave their own time, energy and money to community cats, expecting nothing back. They told me they had seen only a handful of reunions like this in all their years of rescue. Because of them, I now volunteer and support rescue organizations whenever I can.

Gia came home because she was microchipped.

Without the chip, she would likely have stayed an unidentified community cat, and I would never have known she was alive.

  • Microchip your cat, adventure cat or indoor cat.
  • Register the chip with your current phone number and email.
  • Update your details any time you move or change numbers.
  • Ask your vet to scan the chip at every checkup.

A chip isn't a GPS tracker. It works because someone scans it, so keep your contact info current.

What cat parents say

Jasmine's Bengal cat looking up at the camera with bright blue eyes

"I did take her to the vet and got her checked. Her urine was all clear and the vet also figured she needed more stimulation... I took it as me missing one of her signs and you were absolutely right. I increased her going out time to about 1.5-2.5 hours a day on average and I bought more mentally stimulating toys for the in between periods. ... She stopped peeing outside the litterbox and she seems a lot more satisfied now. ... She loved the park and Petco. ... We also established her carrier as a home base so whenever she goes she has both me and the tiny home to retreat to. All in all it's been a success and our bond is growing by the day!"

"I could not recommend her enough. Not only is Bethany super super supportive, but she was extremely helpful as well!! ... Bethany helps in all areas, including support with behavioral issues. ... [She] made me feel less alone in it. Thanks so much!!"

Questions

Can any cat learn to walk on a leash?

Most can, with patience. Confident, curious cats like Bengals and Savannahs often take to it fast, and we go at your cat's pace.

Can cats really learn sit, stay and come?

Yes. Cats respond well to rewards and clear cues. A reliable "come" is also a safety tool outdoors.
